The Last Family

Good afternoon, Diary.

Garrett is teaching me how to play ukulele. It’s like a little guitar. It’s cute and I like it.

At first it seemed really hard, but I’m getting better. I know six different chords.

It sounds good when Garrett plays his guitar and I play my ukulele. I usually sing. Garrett is too shy to do that, but he kind of hums along sometimes when he thinks I can’t notice.

We play “Coming Home” from Bastion, the video game. We play “Oceans” and “Elanor Rigby.” We play “The Scientist,” that’s my favorite. It says:

Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry

You don’t know how lovely you are

I had to find you, tell you I need you

Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions

Oh, let’s go back to the start

Running in circles, coming up tails

Heads on a science apart

I don’t know what it’s talking about but it sounds good. I think I can sing it pretty good. Mom likes it but she won’t let us play it around her.

I rode Wizard today. He’s been getting impatient to ride without Daddy. He can gallop really fast, it’s kind of scary. But not that scary. Garrett wants to try riding him.
