The Last Family
by Jeff Wofford

Sunday, April 9, 4:00 PM. Garrett.

It’s Easter. We did church in the office so that Dad could be with us. He was asleep basically the whole time.

Mom picked out some Easter songs for us because I wasn’t sure which ones are for Easter. We sang “Man of Sorrows” and “Christ the Lord is Risen Today.” Trevor loves “Up from the Grave He Arose” because it starts quiet and then gets loud. I like it okay too. We read the resurrection story from John 20 but didn’t really talk about it. We had communion, and Claire got Dad to take a little grape juice, but he was too asleep to eat any bread.

After lunch Mom helped Claire and Trevor color some eggs. I hid the eggs and some candy outside and we let Trevor and Claire do an Easter egg hunt. They were really excited, running around and finding things. It was actually pretty fun.

It doesn’t seem fair that Jesus got to rise from the dead after three days but most people have to wait like centuries. How come God did a big thing like bringing Jesus back to life but sometimes he won’t even do a small thing like making your headache feel better?
