Thursday, August 11, 10:25 AM. Garrett.
We just got back from the library. We came back with like the whole trunk full of books. I got two on electronics. I’m going to make my own video game machine. I got some on guns and archery and hunting. I got a bunch of graphic novels, but my mom says she’s going to read them first to make sure there’s nothing bad in them. I don’t think she knows what the word “graphic” means.
Dad said we needed to go because there are so many things we don’t know how to do. He’s going to try to chain together three or four generators so that we have more power and they can always run without having to be refilled with gas so often. He didn’t want to try that without reading how to do it. There’s a camping magazine he got that shows how. We’re going to go out later to see if we can find the things we need.
Dad’s been letting me do most of the driving lately. He says I have a knack for it. It’s easy because there is nobody else on the road and you don’t have to stop for stop signs and the lights are all dark. You don’t have to stay in your lane but I do because whenever we find people again I don’t want to have bad habits. It’s easy but you always have to watch out because sometimes there are cars stopped in the middle of the road. He’s going to give me a driving test and if I pass he’ll give me a license and then I can drive by myself. He says the hardest skill is parallel parking, but I don’t have to do that because I probably won’t use it anytime soon.
WBAP went silent today. When we came back from the library Trevor turned the radio on. It just wasn’t there.
I hate the sound of static.
