The new, solar-based electrical system is working. It came together with no real problems. I shocked the dickens out of my finger earlier today. It was numb for a couple of hours. Other than that it’s gone fine. Garrett and I got it all hooked up this afternoon. I switched off the generator and the solar grid took right over. We switched the generator back on after that. Tomorrow when the sun is out, the solar panels will charge up the batteries. Later, if ever the generator is down, the batteries can power us, even at night.
I’ll want to get wind in there eventually, but for now we’ve got an extra power source that is not dependent on propane. It’s a relief.
