new words
This isn't really so much a game as it is a pasttime. But my friends and I
have had great fun with it, so it's like a game in that respect.
You don't need anything to play this game but it's funnest with friends.
how to play
The objective of the game is simple. You must come up with words that:
- ...Have almost certainly never been spoken or written by anyone else in all
of human history, but...
- ...The meaning of which is immediately obvious (to you and your friends at least).
Here's an example: spacklingness. I doubt anyone has ever spoken of the "spacklingness"
of a thing before. And yet the word clearly means: how a thing is like or of the essence
of spackling. "The spacklingness of that employee is what keeps this company in one piece."
Another example: tilelust. Similar in form to "bloodlust", but here the object of affection
is the common tile, a crucial difference.
One more: halibutesque. If you've ever ordered halibut, you know what this word means.
And has it ever before passed human lips/fingers? I severely doubt it.
Can you do it? Can you come up with better/funnier new words than your friends? Well let's see ya then.
Solitaire
And if you're keen to play the solitaire version of this game, you'll find that Google is a tremendous
help in verifying that a word such as tilelust
is indeed very rare, if not unique in all of history.
